Eco surf camp on the Costa da Caparica just outside Lisbon

Our accommodation is located south of the Costa da Caparica, a region known for its beaches, which are particularly popular with the inhabitants of the Lisbon area. Just behind the beaches is an impressive cliff with a 70-metre drop that stretches parallel to the coastline for 13 kilometers.

The flora in this region is divided into three characteristic areas: spontaneous dune vegetation, acacia forests and the famous Mata dos Medos pine forest. The acacias extend over 200 hectares from Trafaria to Fonte da Telha and were planted at the end of the last century by the forestry authorities to stabilize the dunes and drain the marshes. High up on the cliff you will find the Mata Nacional dos Medos pine forest, a 5-kilometer protected botanical reserve with ancient trees that invite you to explore.

On the southern edge of the reserve is the Albufeira lagoon, a unique place to observe water birds in their natural habitat. The almost 30 kilometers of sandy beaches between Cova do Vapor, Lagoa de Albufeira and Meco are a true paradise on the outskirts of Lisbon.

Just a few minutes' walk away is a centuries-old green pine forest that invites you to explore. A walk of just five minutes will take you to a viewpoint from where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the ocean and the sunset.
